Treasurer
Antoinette Trujillo-Fergus, CST, CRCST

My name is Antoinette Trujillo-Fergus, and I am proud to be part of the Colorado/Wyoming State Assembly. I am the Program Director for Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing at Pikes Peak State College and serve on the national board for the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA). Undoubtedly, I’m passionate about supporting our profession and helping it grow. When I’m not in the classroom or working with students, you’ll probably find me at one of my kids’ sporting events or relaxing with a good book. I’m excited to connect with all of you and continue pushing our profession forward!

Secretary
Julie Beard, CST, FAST

Hi everyone! My name is Julie Beard CST, FAST and I am proud to serve the Colorado Wyoming State Assembly of AST in my second term as Secretary. I've been a CST for 21 years in a Level 1 trauma hospital in Denver as a Lead tech, serving at one point or another most of the surgical specialties in inpatient, outpatient and labor & delivery. I can't pick on specialty as my favorite because I love them all. When I am not working you can find me either on horseback competing at AQHA shows, swimming laps in the pool or in a lake, reading or exploring trails with my husband and superdog Chip.

Board of Directors
Lizeth Huerta, CST

I'm Lizeth (pronounced Lissette, she/her/hers). I've been a CST for 6 years, I was on the cardiothoracic team at UW Health in Madison, WI (2018-2020), and am currently on the CT team at UC Health at their main campus in Aurora (2020-present).
I have had the privilege to precept students and staff at both hospitals. I was asked to join the Inpatient Or Unit Council (July 2019-2020) at UW Health.
At UC Health, I was the chair of the Employee Engagement & Retention committee (2021-2023). I help organize many food, toy, and pet supply drives, as well as many work activities for the staff.
I currently am the chair of our OR/SPD committee, where both departments come together to discuss and  communicate reoccurring issues, misunderstandings, improvements and implementations. We further educate the staff and either department of any improvements or changes made to our practice.
I love to volunteer in advance myself in my career. Outside of that, you can find me traveling the world was my husband, spoiling our dog, TJ, and immersing myself in Mexican culture. As for hobbies, I love dancing, crafting and antiquing.

Board of Directors
Nichole Olson, CST

Nichole brings a dynamic blend of clinical expertise and leadership to the board, with over two decades of experience in healthcare. She began her career as an athletic trainer, serving for six years before transitioning into surgical technology in 2009. Her dedication to patient care and surgical excellence led her to work in a Level II trauma facility, where she remained until 2024. She now continues her impact at a surgery center, focusing on outpatient procedures and streamlined care. Nichole also served on the board at Front Range Community College (FRCC), where she played a key role in helping the surgical technology program gain accreditation—demonstrating her commitment to advancing education and professional standards in the field. Outside of work, Nichole enjoys camping and spending quality time with her two dogs, Griffin and Hudson, embracing the outdoors and the comfort of home in equal measure.

Board of Directors
Lori McGregor, CST

I am Lori McGregor. I have been a CST since 2010. I worked at a level 2 trauma center in MT until 2018, where I scrubbed hearts. got my first assist degree and was a clinical coordinator for a Surg Tech program for several years. Since moving to CO, I've been working at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs and have scrubbed everything from noses to toes-es. I was on the MT AST Board for many years and am excited to help serve on the CO board now. When I'm not scrubbed in, I love to play Pickleball and read more books than I did the year before.

Board of Directors
Robin Shivery

Hi, I’m Robin Leigh Shivery. In 2008 I was a manager at The Home Depot in Jacksonville, Florida, my home town. That year, I also began surgical technology school. In 2009 I walked away from my retail career to pursue my passion of being in the OR as a surgical technologist. My husband, Harry, helped me make this radical transition believing in me as I made this later in life transition at times I doubted my choice. This choice has now afforded me many years to serve in our profession as a CST scrubbing in OB, a tissue procurement tech, and a clinical coordinator, as well as a surgical technology instructor. I’m currently Lead OB Tech, in my 10th year at Longmont United Hospital. I am also a volunteer medical affiliate photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Last year, I served as a delegate at our national convention in Orlando, Florida. I now look forward to serve as a delegate next year, as well as one of your Board of Directors of CO/WY AST. I am honored to serve in this capacity and look forward to helping our incredible organization and profession move forward. If I’m not at work and not on a road trip with Harry, you can guarantee I’ll likely be spending time with our one and only grandson who lives here in Colorado as well. Keep it sterile!
